The most beloved movie of 2017, this romantic update on a musical, was partly shot in Paris. With such a glamorous story, our dreamers were for sure bound to have an unforgettable trip in the most romantic city of the world.
From the very beginning of the movie, there were actually some clues hidden in the decor! Did you notice the small Eiffel Tower on Mia’s beside table ?
If you have seen the movie, you probably remember that Mia brought up several times that her aunt had lived in Paris. Very dear to her, Mia shared her aunt’s love for the City of Light. Paris is not only the city of love but also a home for artists; a place where both Mia and Sebastian aspire to live. For instance, Mia told the anecdote of her aunt jumping into the Seine: eccentric and charming.
Sadly, Mia and Sebastian never go to Paris together…an ending that is still highly debated. Still, Mia’s imagination gave us the possibility to see very echanting scenes in Paris.
Being an actress in Paris, with a view on the Eiffel Tower? What a life !
Who’s never dreamed of a midnight walk along the Seine with his/her special someone ?
On the other hand, Sebastian wasn’t forgotten. He gets to play in the Caveau de la Huchette, a real jazz bar in Paris. Dating back to the 16th century, this club has a compelling story. Interesting enough, it was used as a meeting point by Crusaders, then became a court during the Reign of Terror, and after that a jail during the revolution. Since 1946, the GIs made it the place to be and it has ever since emerged as a popular jazz club.
Located in the 5th arrondissement, a touristy place nowadays, you should definitely come by on a Thursday (the ‘traditional’ student night out) or a week-end night: you’ll have go in for an authentic jazz experience like Sebastian would have dream of!
