COMPANIES WE LOVE
So you’ve ticked Paris off your list of places to visit. Where to next?
Set in Paris was founded by Abigail de Bruyne and she has some cool relatives!
Her sister is an amazing woman who founded Flying Kites Global, a charity organisation dear to Set in Paris, that raises children in the Central Highlands of Kenya who have lost their families, and invests in families before they lose their children.
The organization also hosts really cool fundraising activites – embark on the adventure of a lifetime with a great group of people: climb Machu Picchu, Mount Kilmanjaro or Everest Base Camp AND raise money for the charity at the same time! Not yet ready to climb the highest mountain?: Download Non-Profit Shopping Mall in your browser and everytime you shop online – whether buying DVDs from Amazon, iTunes or LoveFilm, a great deal from Groupon or tickets for RailEurope, GapAdventures, Virgin Experience Days and Expedia – these companies & many more will donate to Flying Kites a percentage of the sale at no extra cost.
That is what we call guilt-free shopping!
Set in 10 acres of gorgeous grounds but close to Cambridge city centre, Abigail’s family home in Cambridge, England is host to a luxury bed & breakfast only 40 minutes by train from London.
Still personally run by the de Bruyne family, Anstey Hall is one of those gems of a hotel that are increasingly disappearing from the landscape – it oozes charm & personality.
*Set in Paris Tip: Tell them Set in Paris sent you and kindly ask if the owner John de Bruyne is available to give you a personal tour of the antiques & paintings in the Hall – it will make you want to run to the Marché aux Puces (the best vintage & antique flea market in the north of Paris) and buy all that dazzling gold Baroque furniture.
This is England at its sparkling eccentric best.
